Our Mission Is To Provide Love, Hope & Healing To Your Family Through Chiropractic!
Peterson Chiropractic was founded in San Antonio, Texas in 1985 after Dr. Ward Peterson answered his calling. “Dr. Ward”, as we refer to him in the office, started his early career as a Registered Pharmacist. This early career path left him feeling like there was “more” to be done for people regarding their healthcare. He took an interest in Chiropractic because it was a practice that took on a hands-on, drug-free approach to healing and helping people. After going back to school to become a Doctor of Chiropractic, he was able to establish a family practice….Literally. In 2000 Dr. Ward’s youngest son Joshua started working with him and now manages the office. In 2007 Dr. Ward’s oldest son, Dr.Tim, joined him as a chiropractor and is now the owner of Peterson Chiropractic. They both joined in order to help fulfill the Practice’s goal: to focus on helping patients have physically, mentally, and spiritually healthier lives. This is done through the gentle Torque Release Technique, positive attitudes, genuine care and prayer for and with our patients. Learn more about about the doctors and staff in their bios below.
Meet Dr. Tim Peterson
Becoming a Chiropractor
“Back in 5th grade I decide that I would be a doctor. I was good at science, fascinated by how the body functioned, and excited about helping people,” recalled Dr. Peterson. “At that time, my dad was a pharmacist and I had never heard of chiropractic. A couple years later, he packed us all up and moved from San Antonio to Davenport, Iowa to attend Palmer College of Chiropractic. As I made my journey through high school, my dad would talk about patient success stories from his new office, and I had a few personal chiropractic experiences to celebrate as well. My senior year of high school I realized my passion to help people would be best accomplished through chiropractic. After receiving a Bachelor Degree from the University of Texas at Austin, I was headed on my own journey to Davenport, Iowa and Palmer College of Chiropractic.”
“I was pleasantly surprised by the rigor of the course work. I was inundated with courses in anatomy, physiology, and chemistry as well as all the courses that built on that solid foundation to produce in me a Doctor of Chiropractic who was well prepared to care for his patients.”
After graduating magna cum laude in 1995, Dr. Peterson worked in his own practice, as well as, with a number of other chiropractors. In 2007 he had the opportunity to return home to San Antonio to work with his father. In 2018 he took over ownership of Peterson Chiropractic. This has allowed Dr. Ward to travel more and spend his time enjoying semi-retirement with his wife.
“It is a privilege getting to work with my family”, Dr. Peterson says, “and each patient who comes into our office is welcomed with open arms into our family. I believe we deliver the best and most gentle chiropractic care in town along with the best customer service. Even though most people come to us as a last resort, we love to see people before they get to the point of desperation. That’s why we are a family practice that focuses on teaching and helping families live healthy lives from birth all the way through to old age.”
Aside From Peterson Chiropractic
Dr. Peterson is married to his lovely wife Christy, a nurse practitioner, and has 3 adult daughters, 3 step sons, and 1 grandson. He is passionate about spending time with family, traveling and fitness.
Meet Dr. Ward Peterson
Becoming a Chiropractor
“I had been a Registered Pharmacist for 7 years and, each year, was becoming more discouraged about what I saw”, admits Dr. Ward Peterson. I began reading about how chiropractic looked at health and found that chiropractic put in words what I always thought that health is. I got excited because I found that just covering up symptoms, which is what I had seen from medicine for years, was not the only type of health care.
So, a year and a half later I found myself moving my wife and 3 children from San Antonio, Texas to Davenport, Iowa to attend Palmer College of Chiropractic.
When I got to Palmer, I was not sure if I hoped that it would be easy or that it would be hard as I already had had 5 years of pharmacy school and was married through most of those years. Well, I am glad that it was hard. The major emphasis was on anatomy and human physiology, X-ray, diagnosis, chiropractic adjusting techniques and patient care in the Palmer College Public Clinic. Yes, the courses were hard, but I learned so much more than I thought was possible for me to learn. I also gained a great deal of confidence that I could really be able to help people.
After graduating in 1985, Dr. Ward returned to San Antonio to establish Peterson Chiropractic.
“We love helping people,” smiles Dr. Ward. “We know that many people are apprehensive when they go to a chiropractor for the first time. We understand that many people don’t know what we do, so we make a point to explain everything in advance, answer questions and even give a short tour of our office. You see our goal is not only to get you feeling better, but we want you to live better for the rest of your life. In order to do that we need to teach you how, so we give classes and are constantly working with you individually. In our office we use a very gentle method (no bone cracking) called Torque Release. Chiropractic research has gone towards a lower force but very specific adjustment.
Away from Peterson Chiropractic
Dr. Ward has begun to spend much of his semi-retired time down in the Valley with his wife Pat. They have 3 grown children, 3 grandchildren and 1 great-grandson. He loves to exercise, do projects and walk on a regular daily basis.
Meet Dr. Stephanie Colon
I was born and raised in the heart of Mayagüez, Puerto Rico. Throughout my high school and undergraduate studies, I always loved science, and helping people, but I didn’t find a career that resonated with me until I discovered chiropractic. Growing up I stayed very active with sports, including basketball, softball, and track and field.
I had a basketball scholarship during my undergrade degree in Puerto Rico where I experienced multiple traumatic injuries as a result of my participation. However, I became overwhelmingly impressed when I learned that athletes receiving chiropractic care improved their performance and reduced their pain. After doing more research about the chiropractic profession, I was inspired by the benefits of chiropractic, a non-surgical alternative to traditional medicine. I fell in love with Chiropractic and from that moment forward I knew that Chiropractic was the career path I wanted to pursue.
In 2016, I moved to Spartanburg, South Carolina. where I earned my Doctor of Chiropractic degree from Sherman College of Chiropractic.
My passion for helping people live healthier, more fulfilled lives is my driving force in chiropractic. I believe educating my patients on their symptoms and how it relates to the nervous system is the key to improving patient’s health and well-being.
I am super excited to have joined Peterson Chiropractic in their mission of Love, Hope, and Healing.
