Our office is like family…literally. Dr. Ward Peterson’s two sons also work at Peterson Chiropractic.
Not only do we focus on helping our patients have physically healthier lives, but mentally and spiritually as well.
This is done through our gentle torque release technique, positive attitudes, and prayer with and for our patients.
Meet Dr. Ward Peterson
Becoming a Chiropractor
“I had been a Registered Pharmacist for 7 years and, each year, was becoming more discouraged about what I saw”, admits Dr. Ward Peterson. I began reading about how chiropractic looked at health and found that chiropractic put in words what I always thought that health is. I got excited because I found that just covering up symptoms, which is what I had seen from medicine for years, was not the only type of health care.
So a year and a half later I found myself moving my wife and 3 children from San Antonio, Texas to Davenport, Iowa to attend Palmer College of Chiropractic
When I got to Palmer, I was not sure if I hoped that it would be easy or that it would be hard as I already had had 5 years of pharmacy school and was married through most of those years.Well I am glad that it was hard. The major emphasis was on anatomy and human physiology, X-ray, diagnosis, chiropractic adjusting techniques and patient care in the Palmer College Public Clinic. Yes, the courses were hard, but I learned so much more than I thought was possible for me to learn. I also gained a great deal of confidence that I could really be able to help people.
After graduating in 1984, Dr Peterson returned to San Antonio to establish his practice.
“We love helping people,” smiles Dr Peterson. “We know that many people are apprehensive when they go to a chiropractor for the first time. We understand that many people don’t know what we do, so we make a point to explain everything in advance, answer questions and even give a short tour of our office. You see our goal is not only to get you feeling better, but we want you to live better for the rest of your life. In order to do that we need to teach you how, so we give classes and are constantly working with you individually. In our office we use a very gentle method (no bone cracking) called Torque Release. Chiropractic research has gone towards a more low force but very specific adjustment.
Away from Peterson Chiropractic
Dr. Peterson is married to Pat and they have three children all grown and work in the office with Dr Peterson. How this happened and how we all get along really is something that you will have to ask God because it is just one of his blessings.
Dr. Peterson and all of his family, including 3 granddaughters, have been getting chiropractic adjustments regularly over a period of 26 years now. Also regular exercise at the gym and walking are some of the things he does regularly to stay healthy.
“I consider myself an excellent listener and hope I get the opportunity to meet you in person and discuss your specific health challenge. Give our office a call or email me with the link below.”
Meet Dr. Tim Peterson
Becoming a Chiropractor
“Back in 5th grade I decide that I would be a doctor. I was good at science, fascinated by how the body functioned, and excited about helping people,” recalled Dr. Peterson. “At that time, my dad was a pharmacist and I had never heard of chiropractic. A couple years later, he packed us all up and moved from San Antonio to Davenport, Iowa to attend Palmer College of Chiropractic. As I made my journey through high school, my dad would tell about patient success stories from his new office, and I had a few personal chiropractic experiences to celebrate as well. I finally decided to pursue the field of chiropractic in my senior year of high school. After receiving a Bachelor Degree from the University of Texas at Austin, I was headed on my own journey to Davenport, Iowa and Palmer College of Chiropractic.”
“I was pleasantly surprised by the rigor of the course work. I was inundated with courses in anatomy, physiology, and chemistry as well as all the courses that built on that solid foundation to produce in me a Doctor of Chiropractic who was well prepared to care for his patients.”
After graduating magna cum laude in 1995, Dr. Peterson worked in his own practice, as well as, with a number of other chiropractors. In 2007 he had the opportunity to return home to San Antonio to work with his father.
“It is a privilege getting to work with my family”, Dr. Peterson says, “and each patient who comes into our office is welcomed with open arms into our family. I believe we deliver the best and most gentle chiropractic care in town along with the best customer service. Even though most people come to us as a last resort, we love to see people before they get to the point of desperation. That’s why we are a family practice that focuses on teaching and helping families live healthy lives from birth all the way through to old age.”
Aside From Peterson Chiropractic
Dr. Peterson has 3 daughters who are growing up faster than he would like. He has a passion for fitness, sports, and running trails when possible, but mostly in the competitive environment of Crossfit. If you have any fitness or nutrition concerns, be sure to ask him… it is an extremely important component to your living a healthy life.
“In my experience it is far easier to learn about health than it is to put it to action”, Dr. Peterson explains, “because health takes a consistent investment in time and energy. I am excited to meet you and help you reach your health goals.”
